Last weekend we at the opportunity to attend the launch event of our fellow sisters FABFOURFASHION. We had the privilege of meeting these awesome ladies last December when we filmed our live holiday special. (check it out on youtube if you missed it)
Since then we have stayed in contact and were so happy when they presented their fabulous blog to the world. These ladies really have something great going on. They truly emphasize my motto of Faith, Focus, Finish. They have tapped into an ever present love of all... Fashion. Not only do they each give you an insight to their style, they help those of varied body types. Each of them have their own style and it works for the the diverse audience that they are targeting.
The launch was held at the beautiful Spice Route Toronto
The vibe was warm and sexy. Laughter and conversation filled the area as we mixed and mingled throughout the evening. The Quartet has they sometimes refer to themselves as, were accompanied by friends, family, and well wishers to help them celebrate this en-devour that they have begun. We were honored to be among these visionaries and overall great women. We were able to connect on a personal level and look forward to working with these ladies in the near future.
We want you to check their blog out if you haven't already http://fabfourfashion.com/ We are sure that you will not be disappointed.
Give some Link Luv to these stars.
So Summer is just around the corner like literally, and I recently made a bet with my #boothang to see who could get in shape/loose the most weight by June 30th. He should be further along than me seeing as I was the one who carried the baby for 9 months and I had a few post baby complications that wouldn't let me shake the weight like I's hoped to. A year post baby is when I finally started to see my stomach going down and feeling more confident in my clothes.
As active as I usually am, playing touch/flag football with both my pregnancies, I absolutely hate going to the gym and working out. As I get up there in age I see that it is much more difficult to shed extra pounds, unlike when I was a spring chicken in my 20's. Many people tell me that 60% of the weight loss journey is what you eat and the rest exercise. My favourite drink is water, I'm not a huge eater and I have fairly good self control, but for some reason I just can't seem to drop the extra pounds like I'd hoped.
Well.... I finally decided to do something about it. I joined a fitness bootcamp for a month. Because I'm a diva on a dime, I got a great deal using groupon with an additional 30% off. If that's not wining I don't know what is I attended my first class this week and I am totally feeling it. My legs are sore, my back is aching and everything in me wants to just go home after work and sleep. LOL I won't give up I promise. I have packed my bag and it is in my car ready for the next class.
When I arrived at the first class I started out strong. I honestly was not trying to keep up with anyone else. I was just trying to make it through to the end. After the push-ups, sit-ups, burpees, jumping jacks and planks, I felt like I wasn't going to make it. I set a goal for my self that by the end of the week I want to be able to hold a plank for 30seconds, not quite the expectation of 1 min, but baby steps.
Honestly, even though I want to win the bet, I ultimately want to feel like the best mom and wife. I not only want to look good for my husband, I want that summer body for me. Even though people have said it's too late to get my body ready for summer, I say it's never too late. Every little bit counts. I'm taking it one day at a time one crunch at a time.
Let me know what you're doing to get your body back after baby or just even what you do to maintain your "best" self. I would love to hear what people are doing so I can see what may work for me.
Stay tuned for my progress report.
Boothang and I are fortunate to have loved ones that will gladly watch our little ones while we have dates on the weekend. We are both very involved individuals and often sometimes don't get to spend much time together except when we are catching one of our shows on the pvr and I 8/10 end up falling asleep. He always says "goodnight you're sleeping" because I have a tell tale sign which is I twitch right as I am falling asleep. He always teases me that I always seem to wake up to fast forward the commercials. Anyway, this is not about my sleep chronicles.
This past weekend we attended a celebration party of a classmate and friend that is a breast cancer survivor. If there is any reason to celebrate this was definitely one. Everyone was instructed to wear all white and enjoyed the live music that my boothang & the band provided #musicianwifelife.
The condo rooftop room was stylishly decorated with the reoccurring theme of "breast" cub cakes, self breast exams and photo booth cut outs for all nationalities. It was a fun way to recognize and bring awareness to women of all ages to check them selves.
I have known to many women who have been affected by this awful disease, and I was so happy to be able to celebrate with a survivor.
Ladies please do self breast exams sooner than later. It is always better to find out sooner than later if there is something wrong. Special shout out to Talina Higgins and all our other cancer survivors out there.
It was great to get out on the weekend and celebrate such a great occasion.
Please Share this post with any other survivors out there.
Thanks for the support!

This past weekend I attended my 10 year university reunion. I am still in shock that it's been 14 years since I first stepped foot on the red soil of Huntsville, Alabama, creating a lifetime of memories at the best HBCU, Oakwood University.
With my closest friends in tow, we were able to catch up, reminisce and enjoy being childless. Yes--we left the children at home.
So many people asked, "Where are the girls?"
My response: "At home with daddy!"
Seeing the other parents with strollers and toddlers being dragged by the arms over the 3 day festivities, just looked like too much for both the parents and kids.
Don't get me wrong. I always miss my girls when I'm away. But having some freedom was nice. It was refreshing to have adult talk without two little ones tugging on my dress and whining, "Mommy I'm hungry", "Mommy I'm tired", "Mommy I need to use the bathroom!"
I love being a mom, but sometimes mothers forget themselves. Sometimes we need to have time to just be ladies, enjoy getting ready without thinking about whether you packed the snacks or enough diapers. This weekend my only care was that my phone was charged and that my lip gloss was poppin! lol
Let us know if you have taken any trips lately without your family. Have you had any ladies only weekends? If so,where?
I will definitely planning another one in the very near future. A happy woman is a happier mom!
