Vacationing is sometimes one of the best ways to revitalize your relationship. I tend to use it as a time to reconnect with #boothang in a new place and space. It often resparks the daily affection and sometimes even allows the connection to grow.
We do a lot of things together, however we are very differently in our personalities. Being able to travel together and find the balance of what each of us wants to do, is all about compromise. I really love the sun and sand, while #boothang enjoys the cold AC and chilling in the room. We find the balance of sometimes doing seperate things and then appeasing the other by doing what they want. At the end of it all, we just want to enjoy our time away, enjoy each other, and create happy long-lasting memories.
Now you all know I'm a super saver junkie, so I'm always looking for a deal when taking a trip. You have to make time and save for the things that you want to do. It is easy to say you don't have the money or the time, but if a family member died you would find a way. Make your memories on joyous occasions.
You only have only life to live. Travel the world with someone you love!
I try to travel at least once a year. Ideally anytime I see a well priced trip, I'd love to be on the next flight, but that pesky job of mine doesn't give me unlimited time away from work. I prefer to travel with my husband, but schedules don't always allow for that option. I would love to take a trip with the kids as well, but a trip for four takes planning and months of saving.
Last week after bugging my boothang for months, we along with another couple visited beautiful Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, which is just outside of Cancun. Two flights, several hours of traveling with built anticipation later, we jumped in our rental car and headed to our home for the next few days. Instead of going the traditional route of an all inclusive resort, we opted for a beautiful Air bnb condo. A-Nah Residences totally exceeded my expectations from the time we pulled up.
Our two bedroom condo was equipped with safe underground parking, rooms with king size beds, ensuite bathrooms, and the oh-so-essential wifi. In addition to all the amenities, we were walking distance to a really hot strip of shops, restaurants and the beach.
It wouldn't be true TK style if I didn't showcase my summer thrifts. As usual, Value Village never disappoints. I scored big on fashion trends, and saved big too!
This trip gave me a chance to fall in love with Mexico; but also reflect on my life and how I grown to love me! I embrace being me and and being comfortable in my own skin. I've come to realize that exhibiting my style is essential to who I am. Not everything that is fashionable is stylish to me and that's ok. Embrace your own personal style and know you can show off with any budget. This was a great birthday.
Happy Friday JR!
I live for colour in my clothes. Our closets are filled with a kaleidoscope of colours and hues of colours. It is just beautiful to me. But one colour that is not in my wardrobe is…RED! Astonishing I know. Red is a power colour that personifies fierceness and confidence, yet I have never been able to wear it until now.
Strolling through Hudson's Bay ( one of my fave spots, cause going anywhere else first is unCanadian and uncivilized--LOL), I saw some gorgeous dresses on sale from the F/W season. This Jessica Simpson number instantly caught my attention. I am drawn to anything with a cape--paging Wonderwoman--so I didn't even hesitate with this purchase. Plus an extra 40% on top of the sale price gave me all kinds of life!
This dress is elegant and simple, yet doesn't need much for WOW factor. I chose a classic pair of nude Aldo stilettos from my closet and decided against a necklace. This dress is just too fabulous on it's own that I didn't want to overdo it.
Shii's look was done mostly from items in his closet. I like to get clothes for him on sale and put them down for future outfits.I decided to go for a sophisticated lumberjack vibe with this look, and try to capture a country vibe to contrast my polished city look.
I got his shirt from H&M, a couple seasons back. The plaid lumberjack shirt can transfer through many seasons so kids definitely get a lot of wear out of it. I decided to go with jeans instead of dress pants to keep with the theme, but chose a darker indigo blue wash. Shii's blazer is also from H&M. I am obsessed with the patchwork elbows. Blazers make him look like a little gentleman, which is great if I can get him to keep it on for longer than an hour.
His GAP Factory sneakers are mixed denim and sooo cute. They definitely brought a bit of playfulness to the outfit.
I had a great time dressing up with my #1, but the best part of it all is the crazy fun we have!

Tata and Happy Victoria Day to our fellow canucks,
Annika Reid was gracious, funny and a budding boss babe when she did our show in late 2014. Fast Forward to 2016, she now commands the blogosphere and is a premiere source for body empowerment.
Her social media game is phenomenal. Her journey is unapologetically honest. And her drive is tenacious.

When I peruse through the racks at my local VV Boutique, I often look for things that I don't have in my closet and pieces that stand out. I usually comb through each rack, hanger by hanger, one aisle at a time. It takes time and patience to find the find!
This yellow long-sleeved shirt really stood out for me because of the colour. I don't have anything yellow. And the shade was bright, yet demure. It wasn't until I picked it up, that I was able to really evaluate the details of the collar. It's a beautiful butterfly embrodiery, which to me adds extra flare to an already well made shirt.
One can never go wrong with black pants. So finding a pair that have some interest is a double win! These velvet slight stretch pants can be dressed up for work, or paired with a flowy top for a more casual feel. I personally love pattern, in particular polka dots and stripes. I appreciated the detailing in the pants that brings out a bit of personality.
While I love my high stilettos, I was excited to find these brand new Sam Edelmans. These patent leather kitten heels allow for everyday wear while not being dull. Also, the peep-toe element is perfect for spring/summer in the office. I think even Liam my puppy enjoyed my look.
Thirft tip : Use a basket or cart when shopping. Throw all the items you like in your basket and decide which ones you like when you're ready to check out. Allow yourself to think on items while browsing.
Happy Friday JR!
Summer is fast approaching. With the winter blues behind us, the list of play dates are growing.
So dressing my mini and me has to be fashionable and allow us to move around freely.
I am in love with graphic tees so when I saw this one at Carter's last year, it was a no-brainer. The vibrancy of the neon green contrasted against the different hues of greys really make a statement. When going to play dates or birthday parties where there is gonna be a lot of physical activity, durability is the name of the game.
Denim is a staple in our household, and he is obsessed with jeans. For this look, I went for a lighter wash from H&M. You can find these jeans pretty much year round. I think it gave the look a little more edge, as opposed to defaulting to the automatic Farmer Blues. His shoes were a pair of Nike Flight's that I picked up last year on sale at Kids Foot Locker. You can always find this in Nike's stock collection for kids, so you can buy them any time of the year.
_On Mama B:
For myself, I went for a tribal-inspired casual tennis dress from H&M. I love the patterns on this
dress. It is so bold and funky!
With this dress, I am able to maximize on versatility and create a second outfit option. Pair some distressed jeans with the dress to give it a more relax vibe. The choice is yours if you want to leave the dress out or tuck it in to mimic a cool jersey -like look.
I am now getting the hang of mixing my patterns, so I decided to start small with an accessory.
Headbands are a great way to amp your look. It can also hide if you are having a less-than-perfect hair day.

When we did our show in December 2014, we never imagined what a generous reception we would receive in our community. We had simply set out to conquer a dream we never realize we had.
A lady who was also setting out on her dream was Hope Felix, owner and fitness coach at Hope inspired Fitness. We've had so many people ask us, "What is happening with Hope?" So we decided to invite her back to tell you what's new with her in "Where Are They Now?"

During a recent cuz chat, we were lamenting about how time passes so quickly.
"How in the h.e. double are we halfway through the year already? We haven't even crossed that much off the resolution list. Can we get a do-over? No! What do you mean no?! Marty McFly did it! Why can't we?"
We could yell into the universe forever to try and reclaim time. But the truth is God isn't gonna answer us. And if He did, we would probably wet ourselves. Faint. Regain consciousness. Then faint again.
But what we can do is stop wasting time. And so can you! Please go and take those cooking lessons. Or go back to school. Or take that trip. Just do something now. Mom says so!
The one thing that flies and never comes back is time. And it's becoming a rare commodity.
Every. Single. Day.
Happy Friday Jr.
This year marks my 10th mommy-versary. I say 10 even though he is soon-to-be 9, because I had my first Mother's Day when he was nestled cozy in my womb and screamed "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY MOMMY! YOU DA BEST!" through the body language of kicks and somersaults. And as I reflect, I am definitely filled with the pride that more knowledge has replaced fear in this decade. My bambino has not perished at the hands of a mother that clearly is faking MOTHERHOOD and has no idea what she's doing. I have learned a thing or two about motherhood and what's even more surprising is that my son has taught me about life. He is actually been the greatest teacher of my life!
What I have learned….
1. I don't know everything…and that's ok!
Shocking I know but true! I used to think that I had it all figured out or could have it that way if I just made a plan. And when things didn't go how I expected them to, it was like the world was about to blow up and I didn't know how to stop it. Shii has taught me that it's okay not to know. But it's NOT OKAY if you just want to spin out in chaos and never figure it out.And no matter what is happening, the world won't end so just keep going.
2. Love and be love.
Before I became a mother, I didn't know how to truly love someone. In fact, I didn't even know how to be open to receive love. Through being Shii's mother, I have learned to love people beyond reasoning, and to see the very best in all characters. Day after day, I watch Shii and his cousins love hard, fight harder and come back together again. He has taught me through this example that living my life in love at all times, goes so much further than I have ever imagined. It makes me a happier person to be and to deal with. And the biggest lesson in this lesson is the more love I give, the more I receive.
3. Patience Grasshopper.
While I love this kid, I have to tell you, he can drive me shitball crazy! He is a regular Dr.Jekyl and Mr.Hyde. Two sides of a coin that only I really know, and which I'm sure other parents can relate to. But it is his constant requests, mood changes, and often zany behaviour that has made me learn the art of patience. And this patience has been a skill that I've been able to transfer into my workplace relationships and just into life situations in general. It has also lowered my blood pressure, which he sends back up. Another story for another time. LOL!
4. Work Hard, Play Harder.
Shii is a kid who loves to play and could play all day. But when the time comes to get that work in, he does just that. I have dubbed him the 'straight A' King, because of how well he does in school. Yet I marvel at the fact that he knows how to take time out to have fun. He has taught me to have fun. And it's true! More Fun = Relaxation = Good Endorphins = Mental Clarity to Produce Better Ideas and Productivity.
5. Fall Down and Get Back.
When Shii was a toddler, he would always fall down. Tripping while running or picking up something he couldn't manage, the fall was inevitable. He never cried though. He would just get up and yell, "I'm OK"! The many memories of these scenes still make me laugh. But his sentiment after each fall. taught me to go through life knowing that no matter how bad the fall, I would survive. It has served me well how many years later.
Things aren't perfect, but they sure are worth it! I thank God daily for giving me the greatest Mother's Day gift that keeps on giving.
Let us know what valuable lessons your kids have taught you.
